The much anticipated new line up of the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) has been announced on the eve of a national farewell concert tour for its current members.
In a major coup for music lovers around the nation, the ASQ’s 2012 Season beginning in March will see the debut of its new line up.
The ‘new look’ ASQ will include two of the most sought after names in classical music in violinist Kristian Winther and violist Stephen King who will share the stage alongside existing members Anne Horton (violin) and Rachel Johnston (cello).
The Australian String Quartet are back in Europe and have just arrived in Perth, Scotland where they are performing this evening as part of Perth 800.
This follows their highly successful performance at the Cologne Philharmonie with composer and violist Brett Dean. The first review has just been translated, which you can read here. Please also see the ASQ's Reviews Page.

The Australian String Quartet were one of the artists featured in Iain Burnside's programme "Australia" broadcast yesterday, which explored the rich and diverse musical life of Australia, and the contributions of its performers and composers.
