Australian pianist Daniel de Borah (formerly Hill) was a major prize winner at the 2004 Sydney International Piano Competition and has since appeared as soloist with the English Chamber Orchestra, the London Mozart Players and with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Barbican and Cadogan Halls, London.

He has given recitals at major venues and festivals throughout the United Kingdom including return visits to Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room, Bridgewater Hall (Manchester), St David’s Cardiff, the Brighton and Newbury Festivals.

Daniel has also appeared widely in Australia, Russia and Europe with the Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria, the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra and Jena Philharmonic amongst others.

Increasingly acknowledged as a sensitive chamber musician, he has partnered many leading soloists including Li-Wei Qin (cello), Rivka Golani (viola), Thomas Indermühle (oboe), Michael Cox (flute), Louise Page (soprano) and regular duo partners Andrew Goodwin (tenor) and Anna McMichael (violin) at the Wigmore Hall, Oxford Lieder Festival, Canberra International Music Festival, Coriole Festival and the Australian Festival of Chamber Music in Townsville.  In March 2012 he will undertake a national tour with the Australian String Quartet.

During his studies Daniel won numerous awards including 3rd Prizes at the 2004 Sydney International Piano Competition, the 2001 Tbilisi International Piano Competition and the 2000 Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam Competition in Poland. In 2007 he won the Royal Overseas League Competition Piano Award, London. In 2005 he was selected for representation by the Young Concert Artists Trust, London.

Born in Melbourne in 1981, Daniel studied at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, the St. Petersburg State Conservatoire and the Royal Academy of Music. His teachers have included Zsuzsa Eszto, Mira Jevtic, Nina Seryogina, Tatyana Sarkissova and Alexander Satz. Daniel now divides his time between Melbourne and London.
