Mezzo-soprano Karina Lucas and her duo partner Simon Lane, piano, have been recording Aaron Copland’s Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson, one of their favourites from the concert repertoire. They are joined by Rebecca Jones, viola, for songs with viola, mezzo and piano by Brahms (2 songs. Op.91), Bridge (Three Songs with Viola), and Loeffler (Quatre Poemes), the latter believed to be the first recording of these hauntingly evocative songs. Recorded in the Turner Sims Concert Hall in Southampton, the disc is scheduled for release in mid- 2010.

We are very pleased to inform you that Karina Lucas and Simon Lane are amongst the small selection of artists chosen and recommended by Making Music in the Concert Promoters Network Brochure 2009-2010.
The Concert Promoters´ Network is a multiple-bookings programme of recommended chamber artists and ensembles, brought together by Making Music on behalf of its voluntary music promoters.
Each year the Making Music Concert Promoters´ Committee selects a number of different artists and ensembles for inclusion in the Network brochure. Special fees are negotiated with each artist so that Making Music promoters save money when there are multiple bookings of the same artist.
The Brochure wil be circulated by Making Music later this month.
Karina Lucas will be giving a recital with Simon Lane (piano) and Nick Evans-Pughe (viola) at Oundle International Festival on the 16th July, with a programme of songs by Grieg, Brhams, Strauss and Vaughan Williams. Full details can be found here.
Karina's opera work is handled by Stafford Law but we also wanted to make you aware that another opportunity to hear Karina is when she returns to Grange Park Opera to sing Nymph Rusalka and Wowkle La Fanciulla del West.
Following her highly succesful recital at the Purcell Room earlier in January, Karina is now singing in the Magic Flute ( "third lady") with Opera North. Tashmina Artists manages Karina's recital diary, not her opera work, but if you wanted to hear her sing in the near future then perhaps you would like to see her at one of these performances?
Karina Lucas is delighted that she and her regular duo partner, Simon Lane, have been accepted to perform in the next PLG Young Artists Series; they very much look forward to giving their recital in the New Year.
