Following a year intensively studying core works for string quartet and piano trio with Thomas Brandis, Griller Chair of Chamber Music, two of the Leverhulme Chamber Music Fellow ensembles from the Royal Academy of Music are joined by the Jubilee Quartet (senior undergraduate and postgraduate students) in this concert of three of the most celebrated works in the repertoire.

School Workshop
The B flat Sextet is Brahms’ first major chamber work for string instruments, and it remains one of his most popular. Academy Head of Strings Jo Cole and Garfield Jackson, professor of viola, join the Barbirolli Quartet, Chamber Music Fellows at the Academy, for this performance. The programme will also include a performance of Brahms’ own piano transcription of the Sextet’s slow movement, the Variations on an Original Theme in D minor

The Barbirolli Quartet, Leverhulme Chamber Music Fellows at the Academy, join the Artesian Quartet (students at the Royal Academy of Music) to perform the Mendelssohn Octet. They wll also play "Late Swallows" by Delius.
