The Aquarelle Guitar Quartet and Clarice Assad have known each other for many years, having struck an immediate affinity when they first met, and have long held the ambition to collaborate together on a substantial project. In 2009 the quartet commissioned Clarice to write a piece for their debut recording with Chandos Records, ‘Spirit of Brazil’, and the outcome – ‘Danças Nativas’ – earned her a Latin Grammy nomination. They have now joined forces as performers to present a truly eclectic programme of music close to all their hearts. The result is genre-defying music full of rhythm, energy, humour and emotion.
