In September, Hiroaki Takenouchi will be travelling to South Africa for a series of concerts in the capital city, Pretoria. He will be performing works by Mozart in seven concerts over six days at the Brooklyn Theatre, Pretoria, as part of the Gauteng International Arts Festival.

Hiroaki’s first performance, on Friday 20th September, will be the opening concert of the festival which lasts two and a half weeks. He will feature as a soloist with the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Mozart’s piano concertos no. 24 in C minor and no. 20 in D minor. He will also perform in a repeat of this concert on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd September.

Over the following three days, Hiroaki will embark on a full cycle of Mozart’s 18 piano sonatas, spread across 5 concerts. Most of the concerts will feature 4 sonatas each, with a couple of Mozart’s other solo piano works also sprinkled in amongst them.

This will be Hiroaki’s second journey through Mozart’s complete sonatas, after he performed the cycle over several months at Conway Hall in London, culminating in a finale concert in March of this year.

Hiroaki looks forward to adding Pretoria’s Brooklyn Theatre to his growing list of international performance venues which includes London’s Wigmore Hall and Tokyo Opera City.
