Live Interview on Glastonbury Radio

Shevaughan Beere, baritone saxophonist of the Ferio Saxophone Quartet, talks to Glastonbury Radio today (Friday 11th January) and will be chatting to presenter Alan Philpott live at 4.40pm.

Shevaughan will be talking about tomorrow night’s concert for the Millfield School International Concert Series, whose second half will be given by the Ferio Saxophone Quartet.

The station also hopes to play two tracks from the Quartet’s new disc, ‘Revive’, released by Chandos in November of last year, to great critical acclaim.  ‘Revive’ is a collection of baroque transcriptions, featuring works by Corelli, Bach and Handel in exciting fresh interpretations, and including several premiere recordings.

The two tracks to be played (the minuet from Handel’s ‘Water Music’ Suite no. 2 and the third movement of Bach’s Italian Concerto BWV 971) will both feature in the Quartet’s performance at Millfield on Saturday night, which will also include more recent music written specially for saxophone quartet by Guillermo Lago and Hugo Reinhart.

The concert will be in Millfield’s Johnson Hall at 7.30pm, and the first half will be given by another of our artists, the Wiggin–Wass Saxophone and Harp Duo.  The duo is made up of the Ferio Quartet’s soprano saxophonist, Huw Wiggin, and the harpist Oliver Wass, who will play a diverse programme ranging from Albinoni to Debussy, Gershwin and De Falla.

You can listen live to Glastonbury Radio here — tune in at 4.40pm today to hear Shevaughan’s appearance.
