Rachel Roberts has been invited to take part in one of Japan’s most prestigious Chamber Music Festivals in Toyko’s superb Toppan Hall, renowned the world over for its outstanding acoustics.
She joins a starry roster of internationally acclaimed musicians including Christian Tetzlaff (violin), Takumi Kubota (violin), Mariko Hara (viola), Tanja Tetzlaff (cello), Marie-Elisabeth Hecker (cello) and Lars Vogt (piano) for the concert on 16 May, which includes Schoenberg’s string sextet Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night).
Rachel, Christian and Tanja Tetzlaff, Lars Vogt and Julian Prégardien present a programme of Brahms and Schumann on 18 May.
Between rehearsals and performances Rachel will have a little time to soak up Tokyo’s vibrant culture although sadly it may be a little too late to enjoy the city’s glorious cherry blossom!
