Solem Quartet on BBC Radio Scotland at start of Scottish tour

The Solem Quartet will be performing live on BBC Radio Scotland on Sunday 22nd September, just before they begin their week-long tour of the country.

They will perform five concerts over the course of the week, including a lunchtime recital as part of the Glasgow Cathedral Festival on Friday 27th September.

The quartet will be talking about this concert in particular in their radio appearance on ‘Classics Unwrapped’ with presenter Jamie MacDougall, who will also be talking to the festival’s Artistic Director Andrew Forbes and Festival Manager Rachel Thomas.

The Solems will perform movements from quartets by Haydn and Schumann live on air, as a taster of the repertoire for their week of performances around Scotland.

For those who miss the live broadcast, the radio programme will be available at this link, where it will be available for a further 30 days after the broadcast on Sunday.

For their lunchtime recitals (at the Glasgow Cathedral Festival on Friday 27th and at Perth Concert Hall on Monday 23rd), the quartet will be playing Haydn’s Quartet no. 23 in F minor, op. 20, no. 5, and Beethoven’s Quartet no. 12 in E flat major, op. 127; and for their evening concerts (Inverness on Tuesday 24th, Thurso on Wednesday 25th and Inverurie on Saturday 28th), they will also perform Schumann’s Quartet no. 3 in A major, op. 41.
